I have been using ADIA32 for years. I started using Everest and had been doing so since their beginning, I have to admit I was disappointed in their decision to not only cease support and development of Everest Home, but to drop it from their site altogether. Lavalys EVEREST is one of my favorite apps period. Tons of features and excellent GUI. Been a fan forever and it just keeps getting more comprehensive at every release. I recommend EVEREST Ultimate Edition for anyone wanting to know their computer inside and out, monitor sensors or even benchmark a few things.

AIDA32, now Everest, was purchased by Lavalys early 2004 and ceased to be freeware at that point. I have never used the full version of Everest, but I understand it is excellent. The last free version of AIDA32 3.94.2 is still available on this site, and it is outstanding, but is no longer supported by the author Tamas Miklos.

It still did not have the update functions, so we can update the everest data over the internet, without need to download the whole new software.

Regarding the no installations zip file, yes it is avalable in the website. I will use this, instead of installing it.

I think better if they add options to update the software online by only downloading small part of the database so the software always update, but we did not need to download all the software and install it.

and also better if they create a versions where can run directly without installations. by that it will make easier to use.

Excellent program, and for the nitwits that are giving it low ratings because it's updated a lot or that they don't see why they need to look in their PC very often I'm sorry but those are really stupid comments. As someone pointed out the build number does not mean there have been that many versions released. Second just because YOU don't care what hardware is in your PC or care about monitoring it that doesn't mean other people don't. If you're going to rate a program make sure you don't do it for idiotic reasons.

I don’t know where they found it but it is nice to see it back even though its home site is still down. Everest Home Edition is certainly very good at what it does but I, too, find that some functions of it are slowly disappearing as they update it. I am about to reinstall this new AIDA32 v3.94.2 alongside the latest Everest Home 2.01.369 Public Beta and make up my mind as to which I really like the best.

The campaign against this software is just ridiculous: This is a freeware application; I have not yet encountered a single bug (but quite a few with other hardware identifiers, even some which are not free); the information is quite useful, in my opinion.

If the low rates are not given by a single envious competitor, I dont understand why nobody gives a reason for it (except for ridiculous ones, like the functionality in the paid version is larger... - well, what else would one expect?).

If you have paid any attention to the homepage since April 19, 2004, you will have realized that the project leader has long since joined the EVEREST team. No wonder they dont update AIDA32, since the development team is GONE!

This program really needs some work. And the # of updates is unreal.

This software does exactly what it is supposed to do, and thats what you should rate here, and not if it is usefull for your personal use!

I help friends gettign their computers up to date and use this software to easily figure out what hardware they are using without opening the case, and then get the newest updates.

The constant updates on this software are a good thing. The updates are mostly adding more product information about newer hardware.

So don't hate this software if you have no idea on how to use it!

This software is better then f.e. SiSoft Sandra and it is free too!

Good Software, good programmer! 2 thumbs up!!!

I'd rather use the corporate/ultimate edition. Its still much better than where the freeware version is headed.

Btw, this is what is mentioned on their site:
" All Home Edition users must register with Lavalys. It is strictly illegal to use EVEREST Home Edition in academic, government or non-profit organizations".... and "you certify that you are not a minor and that you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions set out in this License."- This sucks. I know some kids out there who can teach a thing or two to most of the so called techies. This sort of licensing discorages even the use of the so called 'Freeware' products. WTF do they have against minors using freeware products?

First of all they release a new beta every time the sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
If that isn't bad enough the features are now disappearing. Looks like a charge for all users is on the card. Want to bet the features will suprisingly reappear when there is a charge!

I fully agree with Florestan! This used to be my favorite tool (as was AIDA32) for analyzing new systems. Since it has now been so effectively castrated, I now have to use at least 2 tools to get the same information; thus my rating.

The free version of Everest started as a limited reincarnation of AIDA32, and now it is getting more and more limited and less and less useful. It seems that the 5 items that disappeared somewhere around 2.00.3xx (like Operating System, Config, and Software) are gone for good.

I am not sure if it is now better than the last version of AIDA32 (still available here at BetaNews), even with its updated database.

I would normally give it 4, but I'm giving it 2, because of the removed items.

This program is very handy for reporting system information which is otherwise difficult to find. I would like to see more output formats (xml) and the ability to log to an ODBC database connection (this might be in their pro or enterprise edition, I didn't look past the price tag). The links to the manufacturers web sites are a really nice feature. The omission of a change log makes me think they just do rebuilds to keep it in the spotlight. Regardless, this is a tight piece of software, and one of the few I recommend. Keep the home version free, expand the output formats, log to a database, and you'll get a 5 from me too. Nice work so far!

Most of users maybe not realized these beta releases are not meant to be for major public (ie average joe). They are test builds so you must accept there can be xy problems. Nearly each day there are one or two new builds (while i writing this there is already build 284). I was hoping for the glorious reviews below. Instead, I received the BSD followed by a reboot with numerous attempts. Win XP, SP2 with McAfee Virus Scanner, MS Antispy and ZoneAlarm running. Perhaps I should have disabled one or more of these.

Note that version 1.51.195 worked and performed great.

Great but doesn't report the memory situation correctly (I don't think). Shows physical memory and swap, and adds these together for virtual memory. But swap includes the physical memory all ready added to this number. (only noticed after turning off my page file and seeing more virtual memory than I have ram).

I felt like the previous reviewer until I started using DTemp - which is free also and puts a degree reading of your hard disks in your system tray on startup which is way handier than checking that with everest - since DTemp I haven't bothered to install the 3x weekly "upgrades" - they are obviously just a way to use BetaNews for advertising their main product. A good program for basic info about your machine.

Good program. I think I like Sandra better as it can have some nice random suggestions (along with some that are a little pointless), but this program is very clean and polished and helpful in it's own right. If you are a home user with a domain there is a simple way to make everest work. Simply run everest as a local user. This can be done either by logging into the machine as a local user, or with windows 2000 and xp's run as feature. When run this way every version that I have tried with that limitation, has not been limited.

This program has been very useful, especially if I am trying to find drivers for an unknown piece of hardware.

These are beta builds, if you don't like the # number of them why don't you just stick with the offical releases. Those are only released about once every few months or more. For the record, MANY companies release very numerous beta builds in order for testers to find the bugs.

Quite a useful program in supplying lots of information.
However, I am absolutely exhausted trying to keep up with the updates. This for me spoils it. If the author reads this, why not try and only release yet another update when it is necessary or at least limit it to one per month. Updates every other day are not necessary if you are doing your job efficiently!
One other thing, the earlier reviewer was perfectly correct in asking for details of whats changed. At least if this was supplied, we could choose whether or not the update is necessary for our machine. Thanks.
If these are Beta releases for Beta testers then why are they not restricted to Beta testers? Cannot find any text relating to feedback!
By the way, I am aware that these are betas "duh", managed to work that one out for myself but, still far too many!

As for the home domain issue: we were forced to implemented a method to block corporate/business users to use EVEREST Home Edition illegally for professional purposes like network audit.

A really good basic data program. I used to use it on a regular, daily basis to see HDD temp. Now that I have DTemp running constantly in my system tray I don't use it so much.

Everest provides info on everything you can desire to know about your PC...some things you'd never think to ask about! Great program...very stable, fast, and the reporting is awesome!

Yeah, good point, Everest is one application you can install without worrying about your software hive tripling in size. All it saves is window size and position information.

It used to drive me nuts that Everest forced all my secondary hard drives out of sleep mode whenever I started it, by querying the S.M.A.R.T. status on all of them. Then, I set the "LowLevelSMART=" line in Everest.ini to "0" (also available under Preferences/Stability), and that problem was history. (Except that now, I can't use Everest to look at S.M.A.R.T. information! Which is fine.)

Everest is great for finding everything from your current system BIOS version, to the memory timings you should use, to your Windows product key, and everything in between.

Works very well. Also it's very easy to get around the domain limitation. Simply log onto the computer as a local user and you can run the program just fine. Alternatively if you are running Windows 2000 or XP you can hold shift, then right click on the application and choose "Run As." As long as the program as run by using a local account, it will work just fine.

I liked it better when it was AIDA32 because it was free. If you have a small domain at home you will not be able to use the free version of this, you will have to buy the pro version. If you run this on your home computer that is logging into a domain you will get the message that you need to buy the pro version. I am very disappointed with this.

It is AIDA32 but the name is changed :)
Anyway I thought that Home edition is freeware but I was wrong. You see after some time i got this message that my PC is connected to LAN and Internet (which is true) and I must use pro version becouse of LAN and that's it - Home Edition doesn't start anymore :(
So 3 stars now. Everest is the best but I got mad at what happened.

Home edition will not run on a computer that belongs to a network domain, as it assumes it is being used in a corporate environment.
That said, I have used everest (AIDA32) for many years and found it to be an invaluable tool.

In the description of this software should be some note that this was the MIGHTY AIDA32! A huge number of people thinks that AIDA is dead but AIDA is here, just camouflaged as Everest!

Nice software. It detects hardware fast and accurately. It did call one of my auxilliary fans the "power supply fan", but I think that must be a typo. I really like the memory benchmark and would like to see benchmarks for all subsystems, not just RAM. An overall benchmark score for comparing computers and overclocking would be nice too.
