  1. Review - Hamachi for Windows

    2.0.0.60 (Sep 10, 2009)

Version 2 is not Windows 7 ready. There is something wrong with the way it creates it's network connection - it shows up as unknown network. Also if attempt is made to use Remote Desktop (or any similar program such as RealVNC), it will not work when used with the Hamachi provided IP.

  2. Review - CloneCD

    4.1.0.0 (Nov 5, 2002)

If you have Ahead InCD installed on your system then the Virtual Drive most likely will give you blue screen during bootup. Same if you use Deamon Virtual drive. Other than that, it's a great program and the Virtual Drive works just fine. No info can be found about the features of this Virtual Drive and I am not sure if it let's you use some of the protection schemes that the competitors let's you.

  3. Review - SpeedFan

    4.04 (Apr 8, 2002)

This is exactly what I have been looking for for a long time. I have a case with two fans that are loud and this program reduced the noise comming from these fans by reducing the speed depending on the temperature.

I just wish that it would vary the speed on more even curve but then again that may be allready possible with the options - I just have to look again.

  4. Comment - Microsoft Closes Activation Loophole

    4.04 (Feb 27, 2005 - 4:09 PM)

When there was DOS 1 then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 6.1, 6.2 I always purchased a copy even that I could have just copy my friends version. I had one machine, then 2 then 3 all because I just got latest hardware. I would use this copy I purchased on each one of my computers. I know that I was supposed to buy one for each but hell...I allready purchased so many versions that I think I deserve to re-use them on "my own" PC's.
Then there was Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and again I have purchased a legitimate copy (and used it on few of the latest PC in my possesion that were able to take advantage of this OS. My wife and my children were on the receiving end of some of these PC's.
Now I purchased Windows XP....and at the same time got hold of one of the 'other' version because I can no longer install this on my spare computers.
How much have I spent on Microsoft?
I have also purchased Norton Antivirus that now requires activation. Soon the other software programs will soon require activation. How is anyone going to activate all of them. How many programs do you have?

  5. Comment - Microsoft Shackles Unlicensed Windows

    4.04 (Jan 26, 2005 - 10:16 PM)

I am a oldtimer since pre-DOS times and I have always purchased my OS and all the programs I used. Even at $100-$300 for OS in the older days was just fine because with my NEW pc and all the older PC's in my house I was able to install this OS on all of them. I got the new PC and the older one was handed down to my wife and children but always with the lates OS on all of them. But once Microsoft started to enforece the rules to one OS per one PC.....let me see....I have now five PC's in the house times about $180.00 per each update equals to about $900.00. The there are the "other software companies" with similar ideas....Antivirus software, Games, etc...

Even if I was the only one with few PC's in house, one upstairs, on in the living room, one in the bathroom :)

I just thing that if Microsoft (and all the other companies that will now imitate this trend) will either allow one user to use the software on some limited number of PC's and or charge some reasonable price for the OS, let say...$50.00 per copy, I would be more than happy to do just as I used to do and pay it. Pay it even frequently for any and all updates.
