  1. Review - UltraISO

    9.3.1.2633 (Oct 19, 2008)

I bought it because of its format conversion abilities, but I keep being surprised whenever I need something to do with CDs or DVDs to find out this tool already can do it :)

  2. Review - Local Website Archive

    2.0.1 Beta 1 (Mar 23, 2007)

This is one of my "staple" software.
It could be improved by making notes and updates a little easier, but it is wonderful at taking copies of pages and emails and storing them in a program independent way.
Works with pretty much all browsers i have thrown at it, including kmeleon and opera

  3. Review - Tor for Windows

    0.1.2.8 Beta (Mar 2, 2007)

Tor is a brilliant concept, and it works well. It is significantly slower to browse, obviously, but I am rarely in a hurry.

tor+vidalia is much easier to install and get working than the instructions seem to indicate. On firefox you no longer need privoxy but it's simpler if you do (and you can then use a proxy swapping add on to turn it on/off). I use opera nowadays but that was easy too.

I might have nothing to hide but that doesn't mean I don't have things of value to third parties - everyone from google up is gathering information I don't want them to from my online activities or my personal information, and selling them on. Besides it's too late if you start the day I need to hide something from, say, a government turned nasty. When at home I sometimes leave my PC on as a node, thinking that maybe I am helping someone get information their government is censoring...

  4. Review - Internet Download Manager

    5.0.9.1 Beta (Feb 20, 2007)

I registered it years ago and have been very happy with it. It just works, even with non mainstream browsers like kmeleon or opera. It works with downloads from protected sites. It just works.
