Man, I remember when BPFTP Server used to be great. Now it's a disgusting piece of garbage, complete with gigantic ugly buttons and endless expanding menus. The guy who writes this rubbish actually made a comment on this forum to brag about how great his software is and how he's been writing it for over 10 years. You'd think that after 10 years of coding, he'd at least know how to alpha blend his gigantic buttons and come up with a decent configuration layout that doesn't make people want to vomit.
1.8.5 Build 29963 (Aug 29, 2008)
Works perfectly and gets better with every new version. Only someone who doesn't know how to use this and how to configure their codecs properly would rate it anywhere less than 5.
5.0 (Feb 9, 2008)
I've been keeping on eye on this program since v3.xx hoping it would get better. After several years you'd think the developer would take a few days and work on the interface and options layout a little, but no. This thing is a mess and looks as disgusting as it did years ago. I'm sorry, but I'm not about to pay money for something that looks like a 12 year old kid programmed in his parents' basement in his spare time. Aside from that, this program actually got worse when going from v4.xx to v5.xx and introduced new bugs and random crashes. You're better off using a free alternative than paying for this monstrosity.
12.01 Patch (Nov 29, 2007)
I avoid anything by Corel like it's the plague, and this product is no exception. Corel reminds me of AOL, because they can't make any decent applications. All they do is go around buying up small companies with excellent products and then proceed to run them into the ground. Corel used to have a graphics editing suite called CorelDraw. What ever happened to that? I'll tell you what. It was a piece of crap and nobody wanted it. If at first you don't succeed.. go buy someone else's work and pretend it's your own! I'm sticking with the last decent version, which is 9.01.
And why the hell does PSP need Python now? Python reminds me of that piece of crap called Java. Oooh, it's cross-platform, so it must be good! No, anything cross platform is slow and bloated. It's just like the old saying; Jack of all trades, master of none. Now I can't even re-install Windows without having to also re-install PSP. Up until Corel took over, I could just install PSP on another drive and start it right up without a problem after a Windows re-install. But now it complains due to missing Python dependencies or some crap. God, I hope Corel burns in hell.
12.01 Patch (Aug 6, 2011 - 1:41 AM)
I'm no fan of Google or Microsoft, but they're a necessary evil. Companies like Apple and Sony on the other hand I could do without. They're nothing but blood sucking leeches trying to squeeze every last penny out of the consumer. I hope Apple's house of cards collapses and they get buried under the dirt where they belong. Also, Steve Jobs needs to die already. I'm sick of looking at his turtle neck wearing, shriveled up, smug visage. All he needs is an evil laugh and he'd make a pretty good James Bond villain.
12.01 Patch (Jul 13, 2011 - 12:21 AM)
Do you really think the designers/developers at PopCap are gonna stick around and be slaves to the corporate Gestapo that is EA? Please. Most of those guys are gonna cash out right quick and move on to greener pastures. The same thing happened to the Winamp team when AOL bought the company for a cool $100 million.
12.01 Patch (May 24, 2011 - 2:24 AM)
Another pointless Joe Wilcox article. That makes, what, 8937 now? Nobody cares about OS X and it will have no impact on Windows 8 sales. Panther, Leopard, Cheetah, or whatever the hell Apple was calling the other OS X versions had no impact on Windows 7, Vista, XP, etc. sales. It's idiotic articles like this one that try to make Apple's OS seem relevant. It's not, and probably never will be. Most people who want to "try something different" that isn't Windows try Linux, unless they're some computer illiterate ignoramus with a bunch of money they want to throw at Steve Jobs.
12.01 Patch (May 1, 2011 - 12:45 AM)
Haha yeah, if this happened to Microsoft, people would be going for the jugular and demanding world wide class action suits and that Microsoft pay $1 trillion in damages!! But when it happens to Sony or Apple, all is forgiven.. can you even imagine if it happened to Apple? Steve Jobs would come out in his snappy turtle neck and do a Jedi mind trick on everyone. He'd wave his hands and go "Our servers were never compromised. Go out and buy more Apple products." Also, it would be funny if the Sony CEO made an announcement about this similar to the rootkit fiasco.. he'd come out and say "Uh-oh, Spaghetti-O's!"
12.01 Patch (May 1, 2011 - 12:39 AM)
Exploding batteries, music CDs that come bundled with rootkits, personal information stolen off game servers.. man, The Sony Show is awesome. I can't wait to see what screw up is next. :)
